Ableton 10 Key Commands

A long time Cubase user, I learnt Ableton Live about 15 years ago specifically for live show production that lasted a few years. I've recently installed LIve 10 to make certain warping-type work easier and faster, and it does a great job.

7 Useful Shortcuts / Key Commands in Ableton Live 9 August 26, 2013 Instructor Scott Gilmore uses Ableton Live for most of his productions and he wanted to share some tips that he finds useful that may be lesser known. It allows full use of the keyboard when selecting (1) MIDI from: Ch.1 and drum pads when using (2) MIDI from: Ch. But the pre-mapped DAW commands do not work at all that way. If you choose the Control Surface: Keylab MKII The pre-mapped DAW COMMANDS work but you cannot use the pads for drums.

But I have a lot of 'muscle-memory' (actually, cerebellum-memory but let's not be pedantic) invested in Cubase, and I would like my keyboard shorcuts in Live to match those in Cubase.
Now, I always thought this was possible on a Mac, but I'm not having any luck. I thought it was done throught the Accessibilty part of System Preferences, however this won't let me assign alpha keys on their own to a function, there must be a modifier key held down as well. (On Cubase, using the f, g and h keys I can very quickly follow an audio file, zoom in, edit, then zoom out and follow again, all without using the dreaded mouse).
Ableton does allow you to customise both Key and Midi control for whatever you can see on the screens (both Arrangement view and Session view) but this does not apply to the drop-down menus.
Any suggestions?

Ableton 10 Key Commands

(I'm on El Cap)Hello - I am having a problem whereby in Ableton 10 Lite, using my Arturia Keylab Essential 61 controller, not all the notes on the controller will play my selected sound. It's not the controller hardware such as a stuck key, as it will play all notes of a given sound using the Arturia Analog Lab software. This only happens in Ableton.
I think it has something to do with transposition or midi mapping, but I just don't know how to fix it.

The midi mapping between Ableton and the controller is supposed to be automatic...
For example:Keygen
I can load a sound and it plays from the lowest C on my controller, up to the A, then it skips B and C, then it picks up again at D, then it is good for 2 octaves, then the A is clearing the sound from the midi track, and some random keys further up are doing things like triggering the metronome.

I have tried hitting the transposition button on the controller, for example transposing down one octave, and this fixes the problem with the lower B and C not playing, but shifts the problem further up the range.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you - Tom
